Helicopter Flying

Always dreamed of flying? Your first step is to undertake training for your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

During the course you have to complete a set of 7 ground exams relevant to helicopter flying, and at least 45 hours of flying.

Your instructor will guide you through your training, covering all 27 exercises in the syllabus, preparing you for your first solo, qualifying cross country flight and final handing skills test.

The PPL (H) Licence issue requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Hold a "Class 2" medical certificate
  • Pass 7 theoretical knowledge exams and a practical radiotelephony exam
  • Log at least 45 hours of flight training, including 10 hours of solo time and 5 hours of instrument instruction
  • Take your licence skills test with one of our in-house CAA Examiner's
